Rodgers- star-studded squad are set to take on Victory in front of an expected 95,000 fans at the MCG, and the Reds- boss has predicted a stern challenge from the home side in the build-up to the match later this week.
“It-s going to be incredible playing in a stadium with so many,” Rodgers said.
“We know it-s going to be a tough game for us, that-s why we-ve come out here as part of our preparation for the Barclays Premier League.”
When asked if Melbourne could expect to play against a full strength squad – with the likes of Gerrard and Suarez involved- Rodgers replied, “yes, absolutely”.
“The players aren-t quite up to 90 minutes yet. They-re only about three weeks into their preparations, but they will all be involved and they-ll all have some part to play.
Rodgers also praised the set-up at Melbourne Victory and discussed his excitement at the prospect of linking up with his Australian counterparts.
“I had a great couple of days with Kevin Muscat a few months back,” he said.
“The team itself (Melbourne Victory) is the biggest club here (in Australia) and we understand that the infrastructure of the club is very, very good.
“There-s a lot of detail, and sport here in general in Australia is highly thought of worldwide.
“As well as the game I-m actually looking forward to meeting new friends and some of the performance people involved at Melbourne Victory – hopefully we can away ideas from them also.”
Melbourne Victory will take on Liverpool FC on Wednesday night at the MCG, kick-off 8pm. The match will be broadcast across the country on 7mate.
