Melbourne Victory defender Adama Traore says he is “very happy” with his recovery progress, following a serious ankle injury that ruined the latter part of his season.

Today marks three months since Traore’s ankle surgery, after he suffered a high-grade, high ankle ligament rupture in the Round 24 match against Brisbane Roar.

Traore said the hard work and long hours he was putting in, as he aimed to get back to full fitness, had been hard but he knew the work would eventually pay off.

“I just saw the specialist and he was quite happy with my progress and now he says I can start pushing to try and get my fitness back,” Traore said.

“Hopefully in a couple of months I can start training with the rest of the boys and to be honest I will be very happy to get out of always being in the gym. It’s really hard to always be in the gym, while everyone else goes out on the pitch, but it’s part of the job.”

Traore said he expected the 2013/14 Hyundai A-League season to be an exciting one.

“I can’t wait to get back, I’m really excited for the coming year. Hopefully I can do better than last year and hopefully the team can do better than last year as well.”
