Melbourne Victory is seeking an improved display when it takes on City in the Foxtel Y-League Derby on Sunday night.

In its first game of the season, Victory suffered a disappointing 4-1 loss to Brisbane Roar in Group A.

Victory head coach Gareth Naven said there were areas his team needed to improve and others it could build on.

“It’s just getting consistency right and doing the right things more often and obviously reducing mistakes,” he said.

“But we want to go out there and play some good football as well and work hard and represent the club in a way that everyone can see and deliver a good performance.

“The training ground is the place where the errors you produce on the weekend and the good things you do on the weekend, it’s a place where you fix things and a place where you keep doing what you’ve been doing well.

“We’re focusing on improving what some of the errors are and keep doing the things we’ve been doing well over the last six or seven weeks as well.”

The Round 3 Derby was originally scheduled to be played at CB Smith Reserve but was moved to Lakeside Stadium.

City is top of Group A after a win and a draw from its opening two games.
