Melbourne Victory looks to continue its fine Foxtel Y-League form when it hosts City in a Derby clash on Sunday.

Summary

Victory goes into Round 9 in second place in Conference A and on a five-match unbeaten run.

It is a point adrift of conference leader Brisbane Roar, but holds a game in hand.

Victory recorded a 3-1 win over Brisbane in its last outing – at Epping Stadium on December 29.

Luis Lawrie-Lattanzio scored a brace either side of Birkan Kirdar’s fine strike to lead Victory to its win.

Lawrie-Lattanzio, who turns 18 in February, is Victory’s leading goalscorer this season with three.

Victory has two home matches to finish its Conference A campaign, hosting City before a clash against Adelaide United.

It recorded a 3-1 win over City when the teams met last month.

Head coach Gareth Naven’s pre-match thoughts

“The two weeks give us more time to get better at things. We’ve had an in-house match amongst our players which has been important to us to get better at stuff. The Derby is a big game for both teams. They’re a good team with good energy and so are we over the last five, six, seven weeks so we’re just looking to get better at performing. Our players are more in tune to understand that we need to perform at every second, every minute, every part of the game.”
