Melbourne Victory’s National Youth League (NYL) team can secure the competition title with a win on Sunday at home in Port Melbourne.

Darren Davies’ young men sit on top of the ladder, three points clear of Central Coast Mariners and a massive 31 goals clear on goal difference. Davies’ team will play Central Coast away in the last game of the 18-match campaign, meaning three points on Sunday will be enough to cement top spot.

All Melbourne Victory members and fans are being encouraged to come and support the club-s future stars on Sunday, their last home game and potential title winning match.

Davies said it wasn’t just the squad-s success that had pleased him so far this season.

“It’s all about the boys performing week-in and week-out to have them best prepared for A-League selection, which many of them have achieved, including regulars Nabbout and Ansell, who have signed senior contracts after making the transition,” Davies said.

“We’ve also seen Luke O’Dea, Connor Pain and Chris Cristaldo make their first team debuts and that’s what this Youth League competition is all about, unearthing that young talent.”

Sunday’s clash against Western Sydney Wanderers kicks-off at 3pm at SS Anderson Reserve, Plummer St, Port Melbourne. Entry is free for Melbourne Victory members, with non-members just $10.
